How Sanjana Lost 32 lbs & Finally Broke Through Years of Inconsistent Results

Sanjana had always valued movement.

Living in New Jersey with her husband Jay, she was already training five to six times a week. As a public health researcher and mental health educator, currently pursuing her Doctorate in Public Health, she understood the science behind wellbeing. Fitness was not new to her. Discipline was not new to her.

But despite all that effort, she did not feel like herself.

She shared that she “didn’t really recognize myself in my own body.” The strength and confidence she once felt had faded. The workouts were there, yet the results were not. More than anything, she wanted to feel connected to her body again. She wanted to feel confident in her clothes, energized in her day to day life, and strong as she and Jay began thinking about growing their family in the coming years.

This was not about chasing a number on the scale.

It was about body recomposition, confidence, and feeling her best.

When Consistency Is Not Enough

Sanjana was not struggling with motivation. She showed up.

What she lacked was direction.

Nutrition felt like the missing piece. She was putting in the work in the gym but was unsure whether her training and fueling aligned with her goals. She also wanted to learn how to move in a way that supported her mental health without over-stressing her body.

And then there was her sweet tooth. She did not want to eliminate it. She wanted to understand how to manage it.

She also had understandable hesitations about virtual coaching. Like many people, she associated coaching with in-person sessions and wondered whether online support could truly deliver the same accountability.

Still, she decided to commit.

Not to extremes.
Not to another short term reset.
But to learning how to do this properly.

The Early Shift

Within the first few weeks, Sanjana realized this experience was different.

The structure challenged her to push in ways she had not before. The feedback was direct. The expectations were clear. And the communication was constant. She often felt like she was speaking to her coach almost daily. That steady support quickly evolved into a genuine friendship that carried her through the year.

One mindset shift changed everything:

You do not have to be perfect. You just have to be consistent.

That principle stopped one off-plan meal from becoming a lost week. It reframed stressful seasons. Instead of restricting foods she loved, she learned how to build them into her routine. Nutrition became something she understood, not something she feared.

Designing a Routine That Matched Her Life

→ Planning With Intention

Sanjana and Jay began treating their fitness the same way they treated work and academic deadlines. Workouts, meals, and walks went into the calendar. Steps were often completed early in the day before social plans or travel. Planning turned these habits into non-negotiables. Instead of relying on motivation, they relied on structure.

→Training With Purpose

Rather than simply working out frequently, Sanjana began training with clarity. Filming sessions, receiving feedback, and adjusting intensity ensured she was progressing instead of just maintaining. The focus shifted from just exercising to building strength, improving performance, and reshaping her physique. Over time, she not only leaned out but felt physically stronger and more capable.

→ Movement for Mental Health

Daily movement has always been central to Sanjana’s mental wellbeing. Through this process, she learned how to integrate it in a way that supported recovery rather than drained her system. Fitness became grounding rather than overwhelming.

Progress That Went Beyond the Mirror

Over 44 weeks, Sanjana lost 32 pounds.

But the most powerful transformation was internal.

Before starting, she avoided photos and mirrors. As the weeks passed, her confidence steadily returned. She felt comfortable in her body again. Comfortable being seen. Comfortable in her own skin.

Her changes even sparked conversations at home. Her parents began paying more attention to protein and fiber. Friends and family grew curious about the habits she and Jay had built. What began as a personal commitment quietly influenced the people around her.

She also set a new performance goal for herself and signed up for a half marathon, eager to keep building strength and speed.

Maintaining Progress and Building a Lifestyle That Lasts

With her doctorate entering its dissertation phase and family plans on the horizon, Sanjana is focused on maintaining the foundation she has built. She sees herself continuing to train through pregnancy and beyond. Continuing daily movement. Continuing to prioritize her health not as a phase, but as a lifestyle.

The goal is not to chase another transformation.

It is to protect the one she has already earned.

Her advice is simple: there will always be a busy season, a life event, or a reason to wait. But waiting does not create change. There is never going to be a “right time,” but taking action now can make it the right time.

Starting does.

You do not need more extremes.

You need structure. You need support. You need consistency.

When those pieces come together, confidence stops feeling out of reach and starts feeling like your new normal.

Your Turn

If you are someone who already works out, moves daily, and puts in the effort but still feels disconnected from your body, Sanjana’s journey shows that real change comes from pairing consistency with structure. It’s not about extremes or perfect diets. It’s about learning how to move, fuel, and plan in a way that fits your life while building habits that last.

With the right guidance and a system designed for real life, confidence, energy, and strength naturally follow and they stay with you long after the scale changes.
